A weekly hour limit is the chair rail. Side work stays below it so rest is not scuffed.
Without a rail, extra work climbs the whole wall of the week.
Set the height first
- Choose a weekly maximum while a calm week is in front of you.
- Tell the people you live with, so the slot is protected.
- When a request would go above the rail, offer a later date.
It is easier to raise the rail later than to repair a month with no rest.
